Mandate of Nadia Krishi Vigyan Kendra

TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT AND DEMONSTRATION:
- On-Farm Testing: KVKs conduct trials to identify location-specific technologies suitable for local farming systems.
- Frontline Demonstrations: They establish the production potential of new technologies on farmers’ fields to showcase their effectiveness.
CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT:
- Training: KVKs organize both vocational and extension training for farmers, farm women, rural youth, and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills using the “teaching by doing” method.
- Knowledge and Resource Center: They function as a hub for agricultural technologies, providing farm advisories and supporting various sectors.
TECHNOLOGICAL INPUTS AND INNOVATION:
- Production: KVKs produce and make available quality technological products such as seeds, planting materials, and bio-agents to farmers.
- Innovation Identification: They identify and document selected farmer-led innovations and integrate them into the agricultural system.
SUPPORTING AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY:
- Convergence: KVKs work to improve the agricultural economy of the district by supporting initiatives from the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
