Nadia Krishi Vigyan Kendra was established in the year 2004 under the administrative control of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal. It is situated at Gayeshpur, Kalyani block of Nadia district, PIN-741234. The geographical location of the district Nadia is 22°53ʺ and 24°11ʺ North latitude and 88°09ʺ and 88°48ʺ east longitude with North-South oriented linear shape.
It borders Bangladesh in East, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly district to the South, Purba Bardhaman to the West and Murshidabad to the North. Total geographical area of the district Nadia is 3927 sq. km. The population of the district is 5167600 (as per 2011 census) with a population density of 1300/ km2 and literacy of 75.58 percent.
The KVK is committed to serve for socioeconomic up-liftment of the stakeholders within the district through dissemination of location specific stakeholder friendly technologies as a single window agricultural knowledge, resource and capacity development center. Agriculture and Horticulture based, Fish based and Livestock based farming systems are prevailing in the district and it comes under New Alluvial Agro-climatic zone with Medium and Low land situation. Soil type of the district is Sandy loam in up and medium land and clay in low land.
The district is blessed with 270 percent cropping intensity, 100 percent irrigation facilities and extreme crop diversification. Cereals, pulses, oil seed crops, fiber crops, vegetables, fruits, flower and spices are predominantly grown.
